If you have solar you will know that some of the energy you generate is lost to the grid by way of export - because electricity generated by your solar panels must be used as its generated (it has to "go" somewhere) - if the demand in your home is less than the panels are generating that surplus energy is exported to the grid - you may say well this doesn't matter as I'm getting paid from my FIT tariff for this export but if you think about it - the energy you are exporting you may be getting paid 5p, 10p or a bit more but when the sun goes down and your solar stops generating you then buy back (import) energy from the grid at 25 to 30p)! - So you are selling YOUR generated energy to the grid at 5 or 10p then buying it back at 25/30p!!!

Battery Storage is the solution! - By investing in a home battery you can store that surplus energy instead of exporting it to the grid then use it later when it suits you !
For example , lets say you have exported 10kw of energy to the grid as you have been out at work all day, that will pay you 50P - if you have a battery and store that energy you can deploy that in your home during the evening when you get back from work - by deploying that 10kw of stored energy you will NOT import that 10kw from the grid at 25p a unit thereby saving £2.50 on your electric bill ! The beauty is you will STILL GET PAID for your generation and export even if you use all of it in your home. So in one day you are £2.50 better off in this example - multiply that by 365 days and you can see the savings add up quickly!
